We are committed to improving the environmental health of our preschool and neighbourhood. All consideration is given to the health and safety of the children. We have undertaken the following:
- Solar Power
- Oiled wooden floors with Woca Oil from Denmark (eco-friendly)
- Wooden and heirloom toys and equipment.
- We use Enviro / Eco paints on the walls – from Porters Paints Low- zero VOCs
- Our cottage is newly renovated, insulated and has underfloor heating
- Every item purchased, as much as possible is either NZ made or sourced from sustainable and eco considerations
- We are an urban farm, growing our own produce
- Our art resources are from nature and or recycled materials
- We are aware of what we bring on site / we ask, “can it be composed or recycled?”
- Teachers are encouraged to bike or catch public transport or drive electric cars
- We plant and donate fruit trees to our local neighbourhood and schools
- We support and visit Kelmarna City Farm and Organic Community Gardens
- There is a wonderful natural adventure playground for the children to explore, learn and grow with edible gardens.
- Water collection from the roof is used during the day for water play and watering the gardens.
- We strive to be as environmentally friendly and sustainable as we can. All support and encouragement from our families is appreciated.
